Some reminders before and after acupuncture sessions
To prepare for your acupuncture session, here are some tips to keep in mind:
– Inform your acupuncturist if you have any of these conditions: very high or low blood pressure, pregnancy or menstruation, malignant tumors, lr bleeding disorders.
– Eat a light snack before your appointment, but avoid being too full or too hungry.
– Keep relaxed before acupuncture.
To keep ideal results after acupuncture, you may be careful of:
– Not eating or drinking anything for at least 20 minutes to let your body adjust.
– Avoid cold foods/drinks for the next four hours, or even better, for the whole day. They can interfere with your energy flow and healing process.
– Eating light and healthy meals for the rest of the day. Spicy, greasy, or heavy foods can cause indigestion and inflammation.
– Avoid strenuous activities for at least the next one hour.
– Staying warm and cozy. Avoid exposure to cold air or wind from air conditioners or fans.
– Avoid a shower for at least 4 hours right after treatments like GuaSha, cupping, moxibustion, and/or bloodletting.
